EYEZAYA MCFETRIDGE
Eyezaya Mcfetridge is a trombonist, bassist, composer, and arranger from Cumberland, Maine. He currently attends the Osher School of Music, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance with a concentration in Jazz Studies. He studies jazz trombone and improvisation with Dr. Christopher Oberholtzer, classical trombone with Brian Diehl, and double bass with Bronislaw Suchanek.
Throughout his time at the OSOM, Eyezaya has strengthened his knowledge in the subjects of music theory, improvisation, jazz history, and jazz arranging. As a trombonist he has performed with the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra, and various Osher ensembles, including the Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Brass Quintet, jazz combos, and as a bassist for vocal jazz ensembles.
As a freelance trombonist, Eyezaya has performed with the Portland Jazz Orchestra at One Longfellow Square, the Larry Williams Band, and as a pit orchestra musician. As a freelance bassist, he has performed with contemporary musicians at Sun Tiki Studios, Henry’s Public House, and as a pit orchestra musician.
Eyezaya also maintains a growing private studio centered around improvisation, trombone, electric bass and composition. Outside of music, Eyezaya enjoys studying foreign languages including Portuguese, Spanish, and French.
